The Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico
The Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico presents main stage productions featuring innovative choreography and professional dancers. Audiences are treated to premiere full-length ballets such as “Las Posadas – The Dance,” “Escenas de la Revolucion,” and “Tierra Mestiza,” as well as evenings of traditional Ballet Folklorico. The Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico is Dallas’ largest Hispanic arts organization, as well as one of the Southwest’s leading Ballet Folklorico troupes. Surrounding the main stage productions are educational programs for which local schoolchildren are treated to a shorter version of the main stage shows. Teachers receive study guides to prepare students for the theatrical and historical experience. Admission and transportation scholarships are offered to lower income schools. In addition, ANMBF offers after-school residences at area schools at no charge to the student or schools involved. In addition to learning traditional Mexican dances, students explore the history, culture, and geography of the region from which the dances originate.
Amalia Hernandez’s Ballet Folklorico site highlights her dance school in Mexico. Information on the origins of the school (currently celebrating its fiftieth anniversary), performance schedule, CDs and videos for sale are available in English and Spanish. The Ballet Pacifica is Orange County’s leading professional dance company and one of the area’s top performing arts organizations. The Ballet Pacifica Company is comprised of the staff, professional dancers, apprentices, and conservatory teachers. Ballet Pacifica – Orange County’s own professional company – performs its dynamic Contemporary Ballet Series, the Pacifica Choreographic Project, and The Nutcracker at the intimate and beautiful Irvine Barclay Theatre.
California Ballet Company
California Ballet Company (CBC) is a nonprofit performing arts organization dedicated to presenting a full season of high-quality professional ballet for the greater San Diego community, and to providing a forum for professional dancers to develop and maintain their artistic skills. The CBC repertoire encompasses over 70 ballets. The CBC provides outreach programs, including lecture demonstrations, and master classes in educational institutions. City Ballet of San Diego

City Ballet produces a quarterly newsletter, Sur la Pointe, which provides subscribers with information on upcoming performances and special events, along with behind-the-scenes news from City Ballet.

This is a terrific resource for teachers and art educators. The L.A. Spindulys are a Lituanian Dance group. Their site offers video clips of performances, information about the dance group, how to contact the group and schedule events, and resources for the classroom.
San Diego Dance Theatre
Founded in 1972, the San Diego Dance Theater (SDDT) has enriched the cultural life of San Diego through countless dance concerts and trainings for young dancers. Jean Isaacs was appointed Artistic Director in 1997, and under her direction SDDT has earned its reputation as a company of fully professional dancers committed to unconventional and deeply courageous programming, which expands access to the stage for dancers of many nationalities, races, ages, and physical abilities. They are best known for their cross-border projects, site-specific Trolley Dances, and summer dance workshops. Select “calendar” to learn about the current schedule of performances. SF Ballet: Community Programs
San Francisco Ballet is dedicated to sharing the love of dance with the broadest possible audience. Over 35,000 people participate in their Community Programs annually, from schoolchildren, teachers, seniors, and Bay Area families to fellow artists, volunteers, hospitals, and the general public. Each year, San Francisco Ballet donates over 3,000 performance tickets to nonprofit organizations that serve many diverse Bar Area communities. Workshops are offered for families and teachers. Zaccho Dance Theatre
Zaccho Dance Theatre performs with an environment as if it were another performer. The dancers integrate three-dimensional movement into the contours of any given space by using aerial flight and suspension. Zaccho Dance Theatre provides performances and arts education programs in San Francisco, nationally, and internationally. An Annual Youth Performance is part of the Arts Education Program.
