Join Riverside County Office of Education’s Arts Administrator, Louisa Higgins, as she explains the competencies of social and emotional learning, as well as the four artistic processes. Participants will then do a hands-on art making lesson, as well as explore several other lesson types an d strategies to prepare them to incorporate the arts and SEL into their teaching in the fall. Louisa Higgins is the Arts Administrator the Riverside County Office of Education. She has fourteen years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher, and another fourteen years as an arts educator and administrator. She is a practicing artist, poet, and a passionate advocate for the need for arts access for every student!

- Learn a mapping process from Americans for the Arts based on a metaphorical frame of Emerald City to uncover key components to consider when expanding arts education in rural communities;
