Educators Gather in San Jose for the 3rd Annual Creativity at the Core Summer Institute

Educators from across California gathered in San Jose at the Santa Clara County Office of Education for the 3rd Annual Creativity at the Core Summer Institute sponsored by CCSESA Arts Initiative, CREATE CA, and Artspiration-Santa Clara County Office of Education.  Participants learned new strategies and ideas for developing creativity in the classroom aligned to California State Standards, including Common Core.  Some of the presenters included: Dr. Milton Chen (George Lucas Foundation); Pat Wayne and Anne-Bown Crawford (CREATE CA); Tom Adams, Jack Mitchell and Mary Rice (California Department of Education); Dr. Louise Pascale (Lesley University); and Lisa Donovan (Massachusetts College of  Liberal Arts). Francisca Sanchez, Indi McCasey, and Ramona Webb presented a session on educational equity and the arts.  Regional Arts Leads and arts partners from across California showcased modules developed by the CCSESA Creativity at the  Core Initiative.  Participants were able to choose a workshop intensive with one of the following  organizations:  San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose Taiko, Children’s Discovery Museum, RAFT, Red Ladder Theatre Company, and the Walt Disney Family Foundation from San Francisco.
