Arts Integration at the Core Statewide Training
Educators from across California gathered in Woodland on November 15 at the Yolo County Office of Education for the Arts Integration at the Core Statewide Training sponsored by CCSESA Arts Initiative and the California Alliance for Arts Education.
Participants learned concrete evidence of student achievement through arts integrated research and curriculum and were able to learn culturally and linguistically responsive arts learning strategies to be applied in K-12 and other professional environments. The day also included sessions focused on Arts/Literacy Visual and Musical Thinking Strategies, and standards based learning sequences. Presenters included Joe Landon, Executive Director of the California Alliance for Arts Education, Dr. Merryl Goldberg, professor and author, from CSU San Marcos, and Ron Jessee, also a professor at CSU San Marcos, and Sarah Anderberg, Director of CCSESA Arts Initiative. The day opened with a live musical production provided by Joe Landon, Merryl Goldberg, and Ron Jessee. All participants received a copy of Dr. Merryl Goldberg text book entitled, Teaching Subject Matter through the Arts in Multicultural Settings.
